Radiation Essentials Box Includes:

Fresh Pitts Deodorant Spray

During radiation therapy, many radiation oncologists discourage the use of standard drugstore deodorants that contain aluminum. There are a variety of reasons, like concerns that the aluminum could interfere with radiation dosage, or that the interaction between radiation and aluminum could irritate sensitive radiated skin. Regardless, switching to an aluminum-free deodorant is an easy way to comply with this directive without succumbing to stinky sweat stains. Fresh Pitts deodorant spray smells like lavender, the spray provides a gentle application, and it actually works – no sweat stains!

Botanical Burn Balm

Our friends at Polish Your Parts developed this calendula infused balm specifically with radiation patients in mind. Properties in the calendula root are known to alleviate the sting in burns. The balm is easy to apply and should soothe sensitive skin.

Almond Calendula Soap

Calendula oil is known for its anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibacterial properties. This soap smells fantastic and should be gentle on tender skin.

No Sweat Ice Pack

When undergoing radiation, we highly recommend never leaving home without ice packs in tow. While the packaging says, “for lunches,” at Balm Box we believe these are the ideal size for radiation-sized burns. (And hey – hang onto them for future post-radiation lunch boxes!) The sweat-free ice packs do not leave damp marks on clothes. Plus, they are large enough to provide relief, yet small enough to stay ‘hidden’ under an arm or tucked into the front of a shirt.

Seat Belt Barrier

Seat belts are an unexpected challenge for breast cancer patients. Unfortunately, seat belts tend to rub directly against the most tender part of a breast-cancer patient's torso while undergoing (and recovering from) surgery and radiation treatment. Simply insert the pillow between you and your seat belt and TA-DA – pain free driving!

Orange Mimosa Lip Balm

Dry, cracked, and painful lips are a common side effect of chemotherapy and radiation therapy. These orange-mimosa lip balms from Honeybee Gardens feature the flavors of fresh-squeezed orange juice and delicate champagne. Formulated with organic and natural ingredients, these lip balms are long-lasting and provide comforting moisture to sensitive lips.

The Cancer Card

"Yay, it’s time for my radiation/ chemo/ biopsy/ other hideous cancer treatment today” – said no cancer patient ever. We all know living with cancer stinks – but there IS one teeny tiny silver lining: The Cancer Card. Just show your card to the closest friend or family member and VOILA – skip annoying tasks and activities! Fight on, stay strong, and pull The Cancer Card every so often – you deserve it!

Radiation Rest Box Includes:

Essential Oil & Diffuser

Lavender oil is commonly used as a holistic treatment for anxiety, insomnia, and restlessness. Just one or two drops on the lava-stone bracelet post-treatment provide a lovely smell that can last for hours. The aroma-therapy is meant to help patients feel calm and relaxed. *Bracelet decorative stone colors may vary.

Support Pillow

The weight of your arm can irritate radiated areas. These pillows are specially designed to redirect your body weight away from tender body parts.

Throw Blanket

Clinical fatigue is a common radiation side effect, often lingering long after the final treatment. Be kind to yourself, take breaks throughout the day, and be sure to rest. And what better way to rest than by curling up with this cozy throw blanket? Super soft and squishy, plus washer-safe should it encounter any spills or stains. *Plush blanket colors may vary.

Weighted Eye Pillow

Fatigue and exhaustion are very common cancer treatment side effects. Resting is often strongly encouraged. These lavender scented eye pillows can be heated (30 seconds in the microwave) or cooled (overnight in the freezer) – just lie down, cover your eyes, breathe in the lavender scent and pretend you’re taking a nap for fun vs. necessity!

Breast Cancer Charm Bracelet

A breast cancer diagnosis can be shocking and terrifying. It's critical to maintain a positive, hopeful outlook to get through treatments without letting yourself dwell in anger and resentment. Sometimes wearing a simple charm - small enough to be unobtrusive or worn under your sleeve - is a delicate reminder that this too shall pass, and you will come out the other side of this experience stronger and more resilient.

Radiation Recovery Box Includes:

Tea Time

One of the most common radiation treatment side effects is fatigue. It is critical to employ self-care when feeling worn down. This charming little teapot, cookies, and flavored Tea Drops branded teas provide a perfect little midday respite.

Coloring Book & Pencils

Cancer treatment can be extremely stressful, ergo the importance of self-care throughout the duration. It can be very calming to unplug from technology and redirect your focus to geometric colors and patterns, like those found in this charming pocket-sized coloring book.

Stainless Steel Tumbler

How many times do you have to hear your medical team remind you to stay hydrated? This stainless steel, vacuum insulated tumbler with leak-proof lid and eco-friendly straw attachment will keep your drinks icy cold or piping hot for hours.
